Located at 60 km from Sucre, at an altitude of 3200 m above sea level, it is the capital of the Yamparaez province. Tarabuco is an indigenous town that keeps its own folk culture and typical clothes.

Every Sunday, typical fairs are held in the centre of town, where members of the indigenous communities sell their agricultural products. Its most important celebration is the Pujllay, in which more than 60 communities take part every year on the third Sunday of March.
